Be aware of the difference between a conservatory and an extension
both architectural forms are similar, and often the only way to distinguish them is that the extension has stronger walls than glass surfaces. However, this is open to interpretation.
This example, for example, bridges both. One could say there are technically stronger than walls glazed so even though it has the feel of a conservatory, it is actually a very sunny extension. It also requires the structure and therefore of the foundations. Normally, if you're planning does not need foundations and is mainly glass, it is a winter garden.
I say this up front so that some of our less typical protective options included here more sense!

change your perceptions
These days, there are fewer "conservatory", more "contemporary glass house."
Because the main idea behind a traditional conservatory is to create an interior space that feels like outside, the best way to achieve this is to have an all-glazed extension, ideally both the walls and the roof, as shown here.
such a solution feels like adding a "" Modern glass box and anchor in the main building. You must combine this with flush door sills and simple flooring as shown. All taken or the necessary switches just go on the wall of the main building.
However, this may not be feasible everywhere, or practice where there is a very sunny exposure.

Think small
in central London, if you live in a row house and want to expand, you can not be allowed a small side or the rear extension. you will have the largest internal area using the structure you already have with a glass wall and the roof of a conservatory feel instead. Glass is generally thinner than the bricks!
The fully glazed kind, as seen here, shows that he does not really need to be very large - as long as you can get a small group around a table, it can just be

another look at orangeries
When you think of conservatories "traditional", orangery may come to mind. But this kind of structure is back in demand these days. Not only can you use an orangery as a small, elegant dining room, you can also scale up, as shown in this picture, and making a great space.
What is really beautiful in these structures is the play of light and shadows, further underlined by the many traditional and balanced divisions on doors to double glazing and matching fixed panels.
If you plan to have a roof lantern, again, as shown here, always place at the center of the space, and do not forget incorporating the necessary cables for pendants. Think, too, about the ventilation and access for cleaning windows.

Turn your next statement in an internal atrium
Some say it n 't a conservatory, but I would say it is. It is a very good sunny option to add another room in the house if you can not build at the rear.
A very common solution when you have a long and narrow terrain - or the back side - on a terraced house is to extend up to the side. Since this can block light from reaching the back of your reception room, however, a good solution is to go back from an extension aside altogether and create a room like that, a kind of garden interior with a glass roof above.
Have a small veranda as it offers many possibilities to create a room for an herb garden in a relaxing area with seating and storage. A small office area with lots of light above, as shown in this picture, is a splendid use of space, as the great, the existing walls prevent from getting too hot.

Either almost disappear
in this example, the existing building shines through the glass conservatory and its character is largely preserved. Thank you to the whole structure of glass, the house becomes a much more usable space indoor / outdoor.
To truly capture the spirit of this idea, be sure to opt for all-glass holders for the glass roof as well.

Make big and spacious
A traditional conservatory with wooden windows all-windows, doors and roof, always correspond with properties of time, and some of you can enjoy this style so that you can find a way to make it work with a more contemporary, too.
Part of the charm of such a colonial-style conservatory maybe it does not correspond to the main property. It also adds a little more privacy and shows great knowledge. You can afford to get into a bit of nostalgia and celebrate this great shape design for its historical value.

Sharpen classic design
This example shows how to improve on a "typical" design conservatory and bring it into the 21st century. The designer has done is to simplify the detail also very traditional and is the new addition to this house very attractive.
The weight of the pyramid-shaped glass roof is held by an angle steel frame, allowing the chamber to open to the impressive effect.
glass extensions as it may not be appropriate for southern exposures because they lack an easy solution for sunglasses or shades.

Consider an "off the shelf" solution
There is, unsurprisingly, a large number of qualified conservatories manufacturers and suppliers over there. It can often be profitable to buy one of these products "off-the-shelf". Why pay to design something that already exists? Do your research to find a style you like.

Plump self-supporting in the garden
Although many of us want to increase the space internal floor in our homes, there is something to say to return to the old. idea of a freestanding veranda in the garden
If your garden is large enough to have such a detached, glazed piece of design history, there could be a pleasant place very intimate - especially if you include some contemporary additions such as heating and lighting.
