golden years of the villa were the 1930s Later, during World War II, the Germans used as a barracks. After the war, it was divided into two apartments for Cavrois family. In the 1980s, after the death of Lucie Cavrois, the widow of Paul, the villa was sold to a developer, the furniture was dispersed, and the house fell into decay.
Villa miraculous rebirth of Cavrois was due to a handful of residents and architects involved, who lobbied the state in the purchase and restoration. The subsequent restoration cost some € 23 million (over £ 18 million) and has involved a thorough reconstruction that lasted nearly 12 years. Finally, in June 2015, the restored villa has been open to the public.

A working memory
"what shall we do with the container filled rooms of the house that have been preserved?" asked Worn Elisabeth, who was responsible for the inventory of artifacts. Since there were no plans or archives of the house still remaining, it was decided that they would keep and expose some of the objects in the huge wine cellar, like a piece of the memory of the house, recalling the research methods were used.
Thus, elders compartments play a new role as display windows. This is the first time a section on conservation has been created inside of a modern home, this room is in fact very popular with visitors.

In Similarly memory, one of the upstairs bedrooms of the boys was left as is, to witness the disintegration of the villa, under the leadership of its director, Paul-Hervé Parsy.
In fact, Parsy (photo), the current administrator of the Villa Cavrois, was passionately involved in the movement to save this unique building. "In February 2016, we had already reached 100,000 visitors," he said. The original estimate was for 35,000 visits for the first year. The determination of those who attended this house back to health has not been in vain.
